Tabla – Traditional Emirati Protective Amulet Box Illustration

The tabla is a small rectangular box traditionally worn to protect. It was used to hold Quranic verses prepared by a mutawwa, and was often worn around the neck with a thick red thread for protection from the evil eye.

الطبلة عبارة عن صندوق مستطيل صغير كان يُستخدم للحفظ. كانت توضع بداخله آيات قرآنية يعدّها المطوع، وتُعلَّق في الرقبة بخيط أحمر سميك للحماية من العين والحسد.
